... Wikispaces Closing ...

This free educational web space is closing and so, unfortunately, the HumbleClass web team won't be able to share their international work at St. Oswald's. Thank you to all our international partner schools for the excellent projects we've taken part in with you over the last eight years.

Welcome World!!!

We are the kids in HumbleClass (the oldest children at St.Oswald's Primary School in Burneside, Cumbria, England). The children in our class have been developing our school's global links for the last eight years. We've been recognised twice through the International School Award as meeting the standard set down by the British Council in terms of our overseas projects. This is our class wikispace, which we use to share our work in Mr Humble's class with our friends in other countries. Check out our residential trip to Hawse End in the Lake District on this link ... Adventure Learning at Hawse End ... where we explored wild areas and worked towards our John Muir awards, increasing our knowledge of trees and woods through our Woodland Project ...

New project coming soon ...
a new poetry and art project next year (2018) with primary school kids
in the South Lakes area, celebrating children's adventures in the outdoors.

Westmorland County Football Festival at QKS

Once again, the kids from Class 4 have done St. Oswald's proud with their sporting achievements. Playing against mighty teams from Vicarage Park, Castle Park, Dean Gibson and Natland, these football stars represented Burneside in a marvellously sporting manner and were brilliantly successful in their results as well. Thanks to all the schools we played against for excellent matches and friendly football fun. Wonderful goals from CG, JH, HS, JM, JW, JR, RHB, CB and RY, as well as excellent defending from SH, RM, CM. LA and OH. Team A remained undefeated (coming top of their league) and Team B managed two victories of 9-0 and 7-1. Thanks to Amanda for coming along and Tara B. for the lovely cookies. Well done all !!! See action shots from the games HERE.

Well done Year 6 on your hard work in the SATs !!! #STARS

The year 6 children in Class 4 have worked their socks off this week, enduring test after test after test from the DfE. Here at St. Oswald's we've always known how hard they work and what they're good at and how well they overcome problems, get involved in investigations, cooperate in group work, persevere when working individually, love anything creative, are wonderfully competitive yet marvellously well balanced in sporting events (whether winning or not winning), empathetic with the younger children in school, helpful and polite with visitors and proud of our community here in Burneside. As their teacher, I feel very lucky and would like them all to know that each and every one of them is a star.

We worked in four teams of four on different sections using the plan below (by Cara). The sections were made out of card girders and we had to make sure that the quality of each part was maintained throughout the project. We hope you like it.
